I have purchased this system, here is the model number(SC-PT480). I hooked it up with a HDMI cable for the audio and video, which it is compatible with. In the manual it says to use the speakers with my TV I need to set the input to ARC, which I did, but no sound comes out, the regular TV speakers are either on or there is no sound from the TV. But when I use the built in DVD player in the receiver all of the audio worked fine, and video appears as well. I do have Bell cable/satellite(it's Canadian). I don't know if my satellite needs to be connected or if I did everything right. My TV might not be ARC compatible, it is a Toshiba Regza which I bought almost two years ago. If anybody has any solutions or help I would extremely appreciate it. OH and I have an Xbox 360, which I assume works via the TV. Or does that need a separate connection? Anyway thanks to anybody that helps.
I would like to play my xbox 360 in 5.1 surround sound. If the home theatre system has a ""Built-In Dolby Digital Decoder"", do I still need an optical cable for my xbox to hear it in 5.1 SS, or will this ""decoder"" take care of this in place of the optical cable.
In other words,Will it be able to just use the red and white cables to produce 5.1 surround sound?
I am in need of a exhaust system for my home theater. i have to much going on. 1 receiver, dvr, home theater pc, playstation 3, xbox 360 w/ hd-dvd rom, and charging for controllers and logitech 880 remote, I also have a LG tv which can get warm all this is housed in one of those hometheater entertainment center that has 2 towers on either side of a lower base for the tv where the devices go under and gets very warm. the towers are smaller for dvds.
i want to mount 2 fans behind each device. No glass in front of device so for now everything will exhaust. i am using computer fans prolly 4inch ones. i am wandering i want to have the system controlled by a thermostat and i need suggestions on what to do. i am using the old trip method where u put one side of a wire in the psu green hole and one in the black and that turns it on with one simple switch i want to put a thermostat in the middle. does anyone now if this is possible if so what thermostat would u recommend
First, is a surround sound system capable of connecting with a TV or my Xbox? I'm looking for a surround sound system for a cheap price. I have a flat screen 42 inch TV. I don't know if a home theater system is the same as a surround sound system. When I search for home theater systems it says nothing about surround sound in the description. When I search for surround sound, it doesn't say home theater. I found a surround sound system here for a cheap price: http://www.google.com/products/catalog?hl=en&safe=off&client=firefox-a&hs=cCm&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&q=surround+sound+systems&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=6984774229015439839&sa=X&ei=3NbSTY_TIubb0QGmsYzeCw&ved=0CLEBEPMCMAE&biw=1280&bih=861# is this capable of connecting to an LG 42 inch TV? It would help so much if you answered because I don't know much about these things.
I am not big in surround sound. Don't care for the clutter or messing up the look of my interior. However, I do want a strong stereo system with a subwoofer to go with my Xbox 360 and flat TV. I want to use this pair of speakers...

However, I am confused?! Do I need a home receiver to use these? How do I add a subwoofer?
Will these work out of the box or do I need additional things?
