Can you add a Blu Ray Player to an already existing DVD Home Theater System or should I just get a blu ray home theater system?
I was in best buy today talking to one of the sales guys about getting a home theater system. I told him that I wanted to get just a nice 5.1 home theater system in a box like a Sony or Samsung and then later I would want to intergrate a blu ray player into that system. Well he told me I couldn't do that! He said if I bought a regular DVD home theater system and then added a blu ray player that the blu ray player would have to be connected through the TV and not through the home theater system meaning I wouldn't get the full home theater experience when watching a blu ray disk or streaming netflix. In order to do this, I would be better off buying a blu ray home theater system now instead of the standard DVD system.
Does this all sound like accurate information he gave me? Blu ray home theater systems are @ 4-0 and up and I'm not looking to invest that kind of money right now. I just wanted to buy a nice home theater system now and then it was my assumtion that as long as the system I got has HDMI inputs (which most do nowadays) then I could get a blu ray player and hook it up to my home theater system via HDMI and then I'd be set! Is this or is this not the case cause I need to know what kind of money I need to be looking at spending?
Thanks for all the great info. Here's what I went with: Home Theater- http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10551&storeId=10151&langId=-1&productId=8198552921665793574&XID=A:404255:10383604:133793:CJ&ref=http://bensbargains.net/category/59/home-theater -AND- Blu ray- http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10551&storeId=10151&langId=-1&productId=8198552921665968161&XID=A:404255:10762425:133660:CJ&ref=http://bensbargains.net/category/59/home-theater I think I'll be happy ;>
Here's another question I have on the same topic pretty much:
I think my picture on my HDTV actually looks worse then it did on my old tube TV. Why is that? I have a tivo series 2 DVR which doesn't have any HDMI outputs on it so therefore I know I'm not able to truly get a HD signal but still I would think there is something I can do to get a little better picture ,isn't there? My tivo box only has coax and standard a/v connections and I'm using both and still the picture sucks. I hate to have to buy a new HD tivo or cable box so what are my other options? Will the home theater system I just bought solve this problem perhaps? I just ordered it & I should have it by next weekend so we shall see I guess.
Dolby/DTS effect enabled with Most home theater systems when DVD played. Please Advice me getting a good home theater system/ amplifier that can be synchronize with digital atelite receiver to get actual surround sound effect.
As most service providers transmit/broadcast surround sound effect with prologic. Please Help me with brand name and model no.
I recently purchased a HDTV with 1080p and a blu-ray DVD player (PS3), and wonder what are home theater systems that would provide better outcomes at a reasonable cost (<0). Do I need to buy a system or a receiver and separate speakers with capacity of 7.1 channel and HDMI 1.3 output?. Any recommendations on particular brand name and model?
I'm looking for a basic and cheaper home theater system that would do surround sound for DVD player, BlueRay player, Xbox, PS3 and my laptop. Any suggestions? Will these normal DVD home theater systems do that?
@The One: Thanks for the answer. So, I should buy a receiver with speakers and not a dvd home theater. But what about TV? Will TV (from normal antennas etc) connect to that receiver for surround sound?
