The DVD/ fm radio player we have for our home theater system is not working, can I buy just a new player without buying the speakers etc. Where? What do I ask for to make sure it has all the speaker connections in the back? Thanks!
I think it would have the AUX part it is only 2 years old. It is a Coby, those things are not made well. It was in the camper we bought, the camper has a home theater system.
I'm looking for a good 15" powered subwoofer for my home theater system. I have a JBL Northridge E150P and it has massive sweetspots where the bass is insanely loud and everything else is fairly quiet. I want a subwoofer that gives consistent bass reproduction and can go as low as 20hz or even 30hz.
I was considering gettinf a Cerwin Vega subwoofer but I've heard mixed opinions about the quality of Cerwin Vega products. Which subwoofer should I get? It has to be a 15".
Ok, here goes:
I just bought an ONKYO TX-NR609 AV receiver.
I bought this because my brother in law got "us" a SONY DAV-TZ130 DVD Home Theater System....so...I HAVE TO USE IT.
Because I have a Vizio TV, Wii, Vizio Blu Ray, Motorola Cable Box...etc... the dude at Frys told me to buy the ONKYO Receiver that it would simply my piece meal AV stuff...
To my chagrin, the receiver has "screw-type" terminals. The SONY has some sort of clip terminal. So, having stripped all the SONY speaker wires screwing them in (positive to positive and negative to negative) to the appropriate terminals the surround sound seems to be running fine.
However, my subwoofer will not work...because...it has an RCA style input...just one with purple color. Underneath it, is also a purple RCA input that says Pre-Out.
I have tried splicing it to three types of cables..
1) Regular mono audio RCA Y split F / F to M. No Joy.
2) A cable for at Radio Shack that was already stripped with a positive and negative wires...the positive was shielded and the negative was not. These wires were inside a normal black insulation covering and lead to a RCA M. Again, No Joy.
3) So, I dropped .00 on a Monster Standard Audio THX (certified) Subwoofer Connection. It says for subwoofer with an RCA Mono Audio because it is a M to M RCA. I stripped the insulation back and it was shielded with Copper wire around the shielding to reduce interference, gold contacts, etc..... but it does.did have a red and white inside the shielding. Again, strip, splice, and plug into receiver... NO JOY !!!
In ALL cases I switched to pre-out...nothing.
In ALL cases I spliced the pos and neg to the other wire to make sure I had pos identified correctly.
In 'set-up' the receiver can find and test and calibrate all speakers but it does not find nor test the subwoofer...at the end of the setup it says no subwoofer. The testing noise calibration goes through every speaker except the subwoofer.
I don't know what to do. By the way, I threw the clips away to the SONY so I cannot attach back into that...Homer Simpson moment. I am using the HD DVD and the stereo tuner on the SONY unit to appease my wife. Every thing works except for the subwoofer.
Help !!??!!
I'm interested in buying a subwoofer to boost the bass on my TV. My TV has a 3.5mm standard headphone output jack, that's it. I'm nOt interested in buying a full-blown home theater system, so is there any way to connect a subwoofer to the TV's headphone jack, and still being able to hear sound through my TV speakers?
I'm looking to buy a home theater system like this one
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Klipsch+-+HD+Theater+300+5.1-Channel+Home+Theater+Speaker+System+with+Powered+Subwoofer/9388879.p?id=1218096958747&skuId=9388879#tabbed-customerreviews
and I have a reciever like this
http://www.amazon.com/Sherwood-RX4109-2-Channel-Stereo-Receiver/dp/B000MBUSD6/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1260150135&sr=8-2
Would I be able to just plug the speakers from the theater system into my reciever using speaker wire like i did for my bookshelf speakers and be good to go
the biggest speaker on my home theater system doesnt work it makes a click sound i think it got burned or something what should i do?
I can connect the DVD to the 42" Vizio flat screen tv through a HDMI cord, however, the Vizio doesn't have the neccessary RCA inputs/outputs to connect to the Home Theater System. There are 5 HDMI ports and the Sony 5.1 HTS doesn't have any at all.
