We just got a Samsung Home Theater System, and we also have a Samsung HD tv. We would like to hook up both our digital cable box (hdmi) and our PS3 (hdmi) to our home theater systems receiver. Problem is, it only has one HDMI output and no inputs. We purchased a digital optical cable, but since there is only one of these outputs as well, we have to keep switching the cable to either the PS3 or the cable box. Is there an easier way to do this where we don't have to switch cables around?
Receiver definately does not have any HDMI inputs...just one output for HDMI and one for optical.

Alright I do not have a Receiver I was just wondering if you could take the red and white cables coming out of the xbox and hook that up to the AUX 1 in my Home Theater system? Please keep it simple I am not a pro at knowing ever thing about this.

I have a Zenith ZHD311 DVD player that includes a 5.1 speaker system. I know it's crappy.

The DVD playback works just fine and all 5 speakers work to play the sound.

However, I also have the audio L and audio R cables going from my TV to the Zenith player. I have Verizon FiOS and apparently, the HDTV is broadcast via Doulby digital 5.1. I have a Mitusibhi HTDV that supports surround sound too. However, for some reason, only the front right and the front left speakers play on the Zenith system when connected to the TV!

Is this normal for 5.1 speaker systems? If so, then the 5.1 speaker system only works with the DVD player? If not, how can I connect the TV to a 5.1 speaker system so that all 5 speakers play. My TV has audio out (R) and audio out (L), and "Digital Audio out" that looks just like an RCA out....

i have genesis media labs IM-66 and a govideo dvd/vcr combo. what cables do i need to connect them?
im66 does not have coaxial input nor its optical, all it has is DVD inputs which has three red input and three white input, how am i suppose to get that many cables

hi i have an lg all in one dvd recorder 5.1 home theatre system with all the speakers that came in the box with it.
i am thinking of adding a second dvd player to my system to save wear and tear on my expensive dvd recorder.
what sort of dvd player do i need and what cables and leads will i need so i can use a second dvd player with the 5.1 speakers i already have?

Would I have to get special cables? Because my receiver has an optical input on it.
Would I also have to get a new sound card, because all it has is a line out and my receiver doesn't have an input for it.

I have a RCA DVD home theather system and with the size of my room i don't have enough lenght to run the cables so no one trips over them.

I just got an LG all in one Home theater... i am pretty lazy with TV technology, so I just got it out of the box, hooked and placed the speakers in their place. LG only provided a very primitive video cable so every connection between the system and the TV is missing. I will go later to buy the cables but I really dont know the difference between S-video, video component, digital audio.... nooooothing (last time I checked, everything worked with yellow, white and red :D )... I dont know if this could be relevant but the TV is a sony bravia (I thnk it has pretty much every input or output port available) and the HT is a regular semi-primitive all-in-one-box LG system.

I'd appreciate anyone´s help with any of the following:

1) Is it possible to have a nintendo Wii and a dish receiver connected to the Home Theater DVD (that acts as the home theater receiver). If so, what connections do I need?

2) which type of connection is better, and how expensive can they be?

THANX!

I would like to hook up both my x-box 360 (which is my DVD player) and my satellite box. My home theater receiver has one digital audio optical interface port. I have this plugged into the x-box. Now, however, my satellite box only has either red and white cables or the digital audio optical connection.

What should I do? I have a 46" sony bravada HD TV that has digital audio out in optical as well. Is there a way to use that to resolve this issue? Can you get a splitter cable for the digital audio optical stuff? Do I need to buy a new receiver with more ports?
The bravada has an optical out, but no optical in... and even if it did, the home theater has only one optical in, and I'd still be only able to get the xbox in one or the other... if that makes sense.

I was hoping to not have to buy a different adapter for my xbox if it is not necessary.

My sat receiver has only Digital optical out, it does not have HDMI available [I do not have an HD satellite yet, we won't for another year... but I bought the TV anyway because I wanted a bigger TV.]

I have HDMI hook-ups on everything. I'm just not sure what cables connect to what in order for all sounds (tv,cable,dvd/cd,game system) to play thru the receiver for home theater. Can someone help???
