My requirement is simple, I am no professional. I have a 5 satellite Kenwood home theater system (Model VR-615) and a DVD player. My idea is to play a Karaoke cd and use a microphone to sing along. Apart from a wireless microphone what are the other equipment I need to buy ? Is my idea possible or do i need to buy a karaoke system ?

First, is a surround sound system capable of connecting with a TV or my Xbox? I'm looking for a surround sound system for a cheap price. I have a flat screen 42 inch TV. I don't know if a home theater system is the same as a surround sound system. When I search for home theater systems it says nothing about surround sound in the description. When I search for surround sound, it doesn't say home theater. I recently bought a Samsung home theater system, and after getting it all set up, I hooked it up to my TV. At first it worked fine, but then it shut off randomly while the word "projection" blinked across the receiver's screen. When i have parties at my house i LOVE the loud music, the bass, and was sick of borrowing my friends, so I bought a RT2870 Home theater system. What caught my eye was the 1,000 watt receiver, so i thought i could use it to buy a system like the 2 speaker system my friend had. His speakers were about 4' high and were loud with the receiver he had. The problem with mine is that it's a home theater receiver, not a stereo receiver, so i don't have all the inputs and controls a normal stereo receiver has. Is there anything i can buy as an "add on" to my home theater receiver that can give me these control. What would it be, and what speakers would give me what i want? I know this is alot, but if anyone can help me it'd be great.
