I have a 3 yr old Sony DAV-DZ120K home theatre, it has a dvd player and 5.1 channel speakers..
now the dvd player is not working, the lens is gone, i dont wanna get it repaired, as everyone knows that even after repairing it works for just a few days.
I asked in sony if i can buy only a DVD player, but they are saying that its not possible....
I just want a DVD player and im ready to pay for it, but here are some issues:
1. the pins at the end of the speaker cables which go into the back of the DVD player are those plastic clip ones, which we normally have for our landline phones and also in LAN cable. New standalone DVD players have rounded female type inputs.
2. the company said the output is 800w RMS, but how can i know what rating, etc. type of DVD player i should get?
There are those jacks as mentioned by you, but the problem is the DVD player is not reading any disks, the speakers are working just fine. I want a DVD player behind which i can connect these speakers.
oh i got your point now, see the thing is the speakers are connected to the back end of the dvd player, if ur guessing that I am having a amplifier or something, then that isnt the case.
I have an onkyo home theatre system which doesnt have HDMI, and I was wondering if I could buy another onkyo home theatre receiver and hook the new one up to the older speakers?
Compact enough for almost any room, but it will do every movie full sonic justice.A Deep ChannelĀ® Design (DCD) dual-woofer center channel speaker makes every line of dialog OscarĀ®-worthy, and a powerful down-firing subwoofer adds the serious bass punch todays most exciting movies demand.
I have an old but very expensive home-theater audio system. The Dolby decoder finally died, but the amplifier is still fine.
Are there any receiver-only components (i.e., no amplifier) on the market now?
If not, are there any cheap receivers with 5.1 pre-amp outputs I could send to my existing amplifier?
Decoder component is dead because it will not power on -- it immediately blows a fuse whenever I replace the fuse.
joyousdan: Every commercial receiver I have looked at does NOT have un-amplified line-level outputs. You can only take amplified outputs. However I hadn't thought of looking for DVD players with line-level outputs -- I'll try that.
Robert P: I'm surprised these decoders are still so expensive! But thanks for the links!
i bought a samsung HT-Z320 homje theater system but it dosen't play blue ray, i alrdy have a Panasonic blue ray player and i was told if i plug in connect the two players with the digital input i could use the surround sound speakers with the blueray player, i did that but i don't know what to do next.

I'm looking for a system that can handle low frequency hard kicking bass and yet also hit clear mids and highs. Something good for personal audio as well as small party on seldom occasion. I'm not sure if i should go for a home theater system, or a custom audio system with a receiver monitors and a sub. Any ideas???
I have 50" Plasma TV and looking for Home Theater System w/o DVD player around K (+/- 0). Already have DVD recorder.
Primary use is watching movies and sports (NBA, NFL).
