I'm looking for a theater system I can use for both my laptop and my TV. I have a desktop computer set up under my HDTV. I use the HD as a monitor. I've also got a laptop. I'm going to buy a surround sound system to go around the tv, and one I can also use for my laptop. So, can I get pretty much any receiver for a theater system and use it for both my laptop and my TV?
I have the receiver/dvd player that it came with hooked up to my computer and the subwoofer is barely noticeable at the highest sound setting. I configured my sound card as a 5.1 set up but it didn't seem to solve anything, maybe I need to get more power to it somehow? The satellite speakers are perfect and loud enough, it's just the subwoofer that's too quiet.
If you need more details just ask but I think I've included everything you would need
There's no sub woofer control knob on the back, and I've tried playing all different types of music too so it's not that.
I have a Samsung HDMI up-scaling DVD home theater surround sound system and a new Xbox 360 S (that new 250gb one) and I don't know how to use the surround sound on my Xbox. I have an HDTV and it has 3 HDMI inputs. Is it possible to have them bothed plugged in via HDMI and somehow get surround sound that way on my xbox or what? I also am aware of the whole optical audio thing on my xbox but my home theater system does not have that. So any Ideas?
I want to watch HD quality movies on my T.V. with surround sound.
Problem is, the speakers only connect to the back of the OLD dvd player -- one of those home theatre systems in a box kind of deal.
I have a new Samsung full HD upscaling DVD player to go with my new Samsung LCD TV. Is there any way I can connect the new upscaling DVD player to the old DVD player to use the speakers it came with???

visit svssubwoofer.org A review and comparison about svs sugwoofers such as SVS PB12 Plus Home tehater subwoofer system. 2 technics 15' woofers, comparable mid/tweets, nd this awesome twin 12" BASH powered set of subs. The test tones in this video were between 10 and 25 cycles. One of my canned lights above rattled loose during filming (not a joke). I also shook one of my IASCA trophies from my fireplace mantle where it broke on the marble below my home subwoofer, low level frequencys. Window's kinda vibrate...It truly is awesome for movie use. visit svssubwoofer.org

This question has two parts. Please be patient with me as I am a novice:
I have a Sony Bravia home theater system (dvd player w/ 5.1 surround sound), an HDTV cable box from my local provider, and an HDTV.
Right now I have the Home Theater System hooked up to the HDTV with a regular old red, white and yellow three-pronged wire. This allows me to watch DVDs in surround sound. However, I also want to be able to get surround sound when I watch television programs. To achieve this, I plan to buy an HDMI wire to connect the cable box to the television. Is that enough to get surround sound when watching both DVDs and regular TV?
Ideally, I would like to upgrade all my wires to HDMI but my home theater system only has one space to plug in one HDMI cable. So, my second question is, should I buy a replacement for my red white and yellow cord? Basically, what is the next best thing to an HDMI cable that I should use to connect my home theater system to the HDTV?
Thanks.
