I have a Craig shelf system with a 3CD changer and an AM/FM tuner. It has two matching speakers that attach to the back with a red and black wire for each. As you can tell, I know nothing when it comes to audio systems. What I'm wondering is if I can use this stereo as a receiver and just buy the speakers rather than the entire home theater system, seeing as how the receiver is the most expensive part.
I picked up a used surround sound system and all the speakers work but the subwoofer doesn't put out any sound. Is this maybe something that can be fixed easily. I didn't put but in it. Cheap fix or not worth my time?

I want a receiver with at least 100 watts per channel, not total wattage, but 100 watt per channel and at least 60 to center channel and 30 to rear channels and has THX decoding for under 400$
Just a quick demo of my SVS PB12 Plus/2 home theater subwoofer system that I got from svsound.com. My system consists of 2 Technics 15' woofers, comparable mids/tweets, and this awesome twin 12" BASH powered set of subs. The test tones in this video were between 10 and 25 cycles. One of my canned lights above rattled loose during filming (not a joke). I also shook one of my IASCA trophies from my fireplace mantle where it broke on the marble below (dead serious). Enjoy...
I just bought an RCA theater surround sound system. I didn't need anything too fancy or too expensive because I live in an apartment that is not big. So I figured this would be good enough. Any who, I got it set it up and the receiver will not stay on. It goes into automatic stand by mode. How do I by pass it??? Does anyone know what to do? There is no customer service number to call.
I bought the Yamaha receiver/Klipsch home theater system for around 0. And I haven't put the thing together just yet because I just saw an add in Best Buy's sales papers for a Yamaha YHT-391 Home Theater system (receiver and speakers w/ sub) for 0. Money is an issue for me, and I don't want buyer's remorse, so I was wondering if I should return my purchase and go for the Yamaha home theater system instead, unless the difference in the quality of sound of my RX-V465/Klipsch300 is that much better than the YHT-391 system. Anyone have any input?
